Lunch Chit Chat

I was having lunch with group of Finance people today. The subject of discussion was, as always, towards cars, financial targets and women. They observed that my topic of discussion revolved around those 3 subjects most of the time. They are having difficulties to continue the conversation. (Typical accountants!)

They were wondering if i can talk about other areas of interest. I said 'ok let's try'. There were silence for about 30 seconds. There is nothing that I share in common with the finance ladies/guys.

This got me thinking. Why lar? After a few minutes of reflection, I have few hypothesis:

1) I am tired of talking serious stuff. I have enough sh*t to think about and I do not need to talk-shop while having lunch.
2) Nobody wants to 'lead' the conversation. So, I take it upon myself to start talking about things that of interest to me. I could talk about sex, but I do not think it is the right forum.....
3) Age gap. Some friends of mine are 'older' and more 'mature' and the subject they normally engaged upon are of no interest to me. Who cares what time the sun sets?

No biggie. Just some thought on why we connect better with some and not others. I call it 'same frequency'
